Kirkwood School District Board of Education Approves Hire of New Principal Assistant Principal at Keysor Elementary School

At the regularly scheduled Kirkwood School District Board of Education meeting on Monday, April 28, the board approved the recommendation for the hire of Dr. Daniel Hecht as the new assistant principal for Keysor Elementary School effective July 1, 2025. 

Dr. Hecht currently serves as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Facilitator in the Parkway School District, where he leads professional development, advances culturally responsive practices, and supports inclusive learning environments. He has completed both building- and district-level leadership internships, equipping him with a broad skill set and a collaborative leadership style. Previously, he spent six years teaching fourth grade at Mount Hope Elementary in Fort Zumwalt, where he also served as a club sponsor, leadership cohort member, and master scheduler. 

"After an extensive and thoughtful selection process with the input of staff, families and students, we are thrilled to announce that Dr. Daniel Hecht will be the next assistant principal of Keysor Elementary,” said Dr. Alyssa Taylor, principal of Keysor Elementary School. “Dr. Hecht is a learner, a leader, and a relationship builder. We are excited for the energy and perspective he brings to our school, and we can’t wait for our community to meet him.”

Dr. Hecht holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Maryville University. His dissertation focused on standards-based grading, highlighting his passion for equitable assessment and innovative instructional practices.
