Keysor Elementary welcomed members of the St. Louis Blues hockey team for a special all-school assembly on Monday, April 21. The visit was part of the St. Louis Blues Youth Hockey C.E.L.L.Y. program, which focuses on self-growth and community building through a mix of fun and educational activities.
The C.E.L.L.Y. acronym highlights five key topics:
· C is for Commonality – Students explored the idea that they share more in common with their peers than they may realize, promoting inclusion and togetherness.
· E is for Exercise – Blues representatives emphasized the importance of staying physically active and demonstrated proper exercise techniques to encourage healthy lifestyles.
- L is for Learn – Students were reminded of the value of paying attention in school and maintaining a positive mindset toward learning.
- L is for Laugh – Led by Louie, the Blues’ beloved mascot, students discovered fun ways to de-stress and find joy in everyday moments during an all school dance party.
- Y is for Youth Hockey – Kids learned about different ways to get involved in hockey and other team sports.
Throughout the assembly, Keysor students participated in hands-on activities that reinforced each of the C.E.L.L.Y. concepts. They discussed how to stay focused in class, healthy ways to manage stress, and the importance of finding their place in a supportive community.
Fifth grade student Corrina shared, “It was so funny to see Louie try to do all the exercises. I also learned that everyone gets embarrassed sometimes, and when you do, just play a fun song and forget about it.”
Fourth grader Wes added, “It was really fun! I loved when we were all dancing together and chanting ‘Let’s Go Blues!’ over and over.”
In addition to Louie, former Blues player Jamal Mayers and members of the Blue Crew were on hand to join the fun and interact with students throughout the morning.
To kick off the event, Keysor students gathered outside for a group photo in the shape of the iconic Blue Note, proudly showcasing their school spirit and excitement for the day.
